MEMLEAK source.  Rarely (eg, hpcrun on hpcstruct analyzing itself),
MEMLEAK interferes with the application's mallocs, resulting in a
segfault.  This variable works around the problem.

Also, update the manual and add some directions on how to update the
manual.
